Few moments show a disconnect between people and technology quite like the 1994 Today Show clip of Bryant Gumble and Katie Couric wondering aloud 'what internet is' to their offscreen producer. To showcase why keeping up with the latest technology is so important, we did our own spin on that moment in this ad for Phonexa.
"The Internet," the final in our "Unofficial History of Innovation" campaign, was part of a whole interactive experience that built upon the idea of a viral morning show clip. Our campaign included a longer & more cringe-worthy "YouTube clip" version that also gave no clear indication that it was an ad.

We finally upped the ante and engagement even more by creating an entire 1990s-style website for the fake morning show "Rise and Wake Up." It would be completely interactive and filled with horrendously designed web pages dripping in early internet nostalgia.
